  • Keep in mind that Heartgard Plus doesn't target adult D. immitis, so infected dogs require separate therapy.
  • Treat infected dogs to eliminate adult heartworms and microfilariae before starting Heartgard Plus.
  • Although ivermectin in Heartgard Plus may impact some microfilariae, it doesn't clear them completely.
  • Watch for mild hypersensitivity reactions, such as transient diarrhea, in certain dogs following treatment.
